Weekly Classes
Youth-Led Homework Club
Focus: Spearheaded by our Young Leaders Council, this “homework help club” aims to encourage peer-to-peer support for homework, language practice, and bonding.
When/Where: Tuesdays and Thursdays 4-5pm, CR0 1ND (Term Time).
For Whom: UASC’s aged 14-17 plus those who engaged with us pre-18. Drops ins and referrals welcome!
Crisis Support
1-1 Education/Language Support & Mentoring
Focus: Providing vital language support to assist with comprehension and reduce isolation; educational support to help young people adjust to the demands of mainstream schooling; higher-education advice to help young people successfully manage exams and expand career aspirations.
When/Where: At the convenience of young people’s schedules. In-person or online.
For Whom: UASC’s aged 15-21+. Only available to those already attending our after school classes and working with one or more of our other departments.

Qualifications: BA Hons English Literature from Queen Mary University of London; FdA Professional Acting from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School

Qualifications: BA Hons Professional Acting from London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), Accredited TEFL Certificate
”I am a stage and screen actor, and a musician. My work has taken me all around the country and ranges from Shakespeare to developing new work. I love passing on my passion for language to young people and encouraging them to find their own voice. To be able to work with such remarkable young people at Play for Progress is a privilege.”
Other skills: I play violin, guitar, banjo, and I sing! I also write, and in my spare time enjoy painting and cooking (though not both at once).
Bill Carslake

Qualifications: MA English Literature from Cambridge University
“I write accounts of my music compositions about outdoor spaces (see www.billcarslake.com) and create poetry for some of my compositions. I am also a director of Clarity & Hart, a website design and communications agency that works exclusively with the sail cargo sector (www.clarityandhart.com). C&H has worked with companies in Costa Rica, the Netherlands and Sweden. The team designed and wrote www.grayhoundshipping.com from scratch”
He specialises in writing for an international audience, and is particularly interested in the roots of words.
