Refugee Week 2020: #Imagine

Refugee Week 2020 - SIMPLE ACTS

DAY #1 - Imagine...

Today's Simple Act is an invitation to take a step back from the current moment, and imagine the world you want to see. What would your school, community, city, or the planet look like, if you made the rules?

Where to even begin....well, two of our Young Leaders took to their pads and pencils and drew images that came to them when thinking on this theme.

Ionela’s Submission

Here is the first submission, by a young migrant of our community, Ionela:

"We are so different but still very similar. I hope you always find a reason to smile. Every day is a chance to change your life. You only fail when you stop trying. When someone else's happiness is your happiness that is love - no matter how different we are, because we all love with heart. Tell them you love them every day for no reason. This world needs you to move it with love and hope. Together we can make a better world." - Ionela

Sam’s Submission:

Here is the second submission, by a young refugee of our community, Sam, entitled “Refugees are Amazing.”

INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE

One of our Associate Artists Dima Karout Art also took up the call for today’s Simple Act and has created #CityTextures, an #interactive #art project we hope you'll participate in. The aim of the project is to focus on the gems that already exist within our own local communities and to frame what we want to see valued, noticed, highlighted, considered, or appreciate by others.

We invite you to:

1) WATCH her video https://youtu.be/QCrwcTBtX-s

2) WALK in your own city (or your own space) with a set of new eyes, and look for textures and details that you didn't pay attention to before this "Slow-Motion-New-Normal-Strange" times.

3) IMAGINE cities, streets, and walls as your #canvas and discover #abstract #art #beauty in #details and FRAME IT!

4) SEND your submissions to @PlayforProgress #DimaKaroutArt or by email to contact@DimaKarout.com

Let’s frame, focus, and invest our collective attention within our local communities & start living in that world we want to see...
