February Half Term

This half term we took time to engage with the earth again through grounding activities in clay and sound. Emerging from winter’s hibernation, even as spring calls to us, can be jarring. We wanted to take this ritual time to adjust together, and as such decided to explore the themes of earth, growth, music, and nature. We opened with a clay making activity, ensuring that we were engaging with physical earth, and creating pots we would use to send soil and seedlings home with our young people. We also began a large mural of a tree that each participant would add to over the course of the project, contributing to a growing landscape right before our eyes, and by three of the project, we dove headlong into music jamming and creating an expressive soundscape.

We can’t thank BBC Children in Need for continuing to support these half term projects which are SO exceptionally nourishing for us!
